Three Green and Speckled Frogs

This school year I've been so focused on making flannel versions of new songs and stories, that some of my old favorites have been sort of forgotten.  I've had a Three Green and Speckled Frogs flannel board set for many years.  I actually like it a lot--I didn't really need to make a new set, but for the fact that one of our bugs (or at least one of its antennae) is missing.

But then I came across these frogs on a clip art search, and then these adorable bugs caught my eye... And speaking of eyes, the eyeballs on all of these critters are awesome, aren't they?

(Okay, the bug legs were a pain in the butt, and I bet they'll fall off within the first few uses.  If that happens I'll reluctantly glue them back on, scan them, and make laminated cardstock version of the little buzzers.  But I am just loving the look of felt, so I'm giving this a try.  (Edited to add that I changed the design of he legs and they don't fall off :))

Just in case you need them:

Three green and speckled frogs
Sat on a speckled log
Eating some most delicious bugs. Yum! Yum!
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are two green speckled frogs--glub glub.

Two green and speckled frogs
Sat on a speckled log
Eating some most delicious bugs. Yum! Yum!
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there is one green speckled frog--glub, glub.

One green and speckled frog
Sat on a speckled log
Eating some most delicious bugs. Yum! Yum!
He jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there are no green speckled frogs--glub glub!

  2. Thanks Kathryn! I used them yesterday with my twos, and today with my threes. We all love this song, but I really notice that the kids that sometimes aren't as interested in songs and stories really respond to big, bold, felt pieces being put up on the board...
