Fruit Song for Kids: Fruit Salad Ballad!

I can't have a felt board set that can only be used one way, now can I??  No, I can't!

My Rainbow Stew set is definitely a favorite with kids and educators.  It's magical, for sure.  I've got a video of that fun song right here.

But of course I needed to write another song for it.  A fruity song.  A song that includes colors and rhyming and pretending...

So I did.  And I called it Fruit Salad Ballad.  Because I think that's so darn cute.

Here's the video--I hope you love it and use it with your kids as soon as possible :) There will be picking, and plucking, and chopping and tossing and eating!  Get ready for fruity fun!

Ball of Yarn Hide and Seek!

So, yep.  It's two of my favorite things, all bundled up together:  Cats, and Little Mouse.  I mean, can you go wrong with this?  No.  No, you can't.  (Plus, these cats are the stars of Kitty Bingo, too, so--muti-use sets for the big win!)

Kids just love surprises, and it's always a surprise where that ball of yarn might be hiding...And sometimes, just to be super sneaky, I don't hide it behind ANY of the cats--I hide it behind the flannel board!!  Gasp!  The children are furious!  I'm delighted!

Anyway..

Ball of yarn, ball of yarn, where can you be?

Are you behind the gray kitten?  Let...me...see!

Hickory Dickory Dock Felt Board Set

 

Oh, I love a classic nursery rhyme!  (I think I might be an old fashioned, low-tech kind of girl.)

I had an older version of Hickory Dickory Dock, with a mouse.  And a clock.  But a one use set wasn't cutting it.  It was just a little too simple (although I do think simple is a good, good thing!)

So how to mix it up, but keep it simple, right?

Enter the mouse, the clock...and some friends!

Now, going up the clock isn't just for mice!  

Let's JUMP up the clock!  

Let's CRAWL slooowwwwly up the clock!  

Let's RUN up the clock!  

And hey--we can give clues to the kids and have them guess which animal is going next...

"I'm thinking of a tiny critter who has a shell and moves very slowly..." 

"Lets find an animal that jumps AND has a pouch for their baby..."

"This animal moves quickly, and can be a pet at your house..."

Now, I also printed out a little clock, because why not have a Hickory Dickory version of the Little Mouse game?  It's always a winner, right?!

Tick tock, tick tock, the clock is hiding somewhere..

Build a Snowman

Joining his robot and farm friends in my selection of Toddler Sets, this Build a Robot set is my latest creation.  This is a perfect set to put out at a felt table or wall for kids to use independently, but it can also be used to accompany a snow or snowman story time (see my other snowman post here.)

The Enormous Turnip

I have used the printed out, laminated-card-stock version of this story for many years (here's the pattern from KizClub), and decided to make a felt copy of it last night.  I could have sworn I made the mouse, even remember cutting the dark gray felt, but couldn't find him anywhere today--so a brown laminated version is being featured in these pictures :)
